The Kenya Golf Union (KGU) has named Vincent Mukiri as the new chairman of the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), succeeding Regina Gachora, who led the foundation for the past three years.
Mukiri, previously the JGF vice chairman and Tournaments Director, is a member of Thika Golf Club.
He brings extensive experience in junior golf development and a deep passion for the game.
His leadership at Thika Golf Club and active involvement in JGF’s initiatives position him well for the role, according to KGU.
KGU chairman David Ndung’u expressed confidence in Mukiri’s leadership.
“Vincent Mukiri’s appointment as the new chairman of the Junior Golf Foundation is a great step forward for junior golf in Kenya. His experience, commitment, and passion for the game make him the best fit to lead JGF into the future. We are excited to work with him and support his efforts in furthering the development of junior golf in the country,” said Ndung’u.
Mukiri, in his acceptance remarks, emphasized his commitment to advancing junior golf and providing young golfers with the opportunities and support they need to succeed.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to impact young lives, their families, and communities at this strategic level. I will serve to the best of my ability,” he said.
He added that junior golf in Kenya has immense potential and reiterated his dedication to building upon the foundation’s successes.
“Together with the team, we will continue to provide opportunities for young golfers and ensure they have the resources and support needed to thrive,” he said.
Ndung’u also lauded outgoing chairperson Gachora for her instrumental role in the growth and development of junior golf across the country.
“Under her leadership, the foundation achieved significant milestones. Her tenure has had a profound impact on junior golf, and both KGU and JGF extend their gratitude for her remarkable service,” he said.
