The 8th Edition of ICEA Lion King of the Course Golf Series Kicks Off Saturday

All is set for the 8th edition of the ICEA Lion King of the Course 2024 Golf Series this Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the scenic par 72 course of Machakos Golf Club.

Following the tremendous success of the 7th edition, which unfolded across seven different clubs nationwide and concluded with a spectacular finale in October 2023 at Nyali.

The Grand Winner of the 2023 series has been scheduled to participate in the 2024 Lekoa Classic on April 26 and 27 this year at Parys Golf and Country Estate, Vaal De Grace, in South Africa.

The inaugural leg of the 2024 ICEA Lion King of the Course Golf Series has attracted a formidable field of over 140 players hailing from both Machakos and the broader Nairobi metropolitan area.

The anticipation is at an all-time high for this year’s event.

ICEA Lion Chief Executive Officer Philip Lopokoiyit said they are thrilled to kick off the 8th edition of the 2024 golf series at Machakos Golf Club.

“This series is not just about golf; it’s a celebration of excellence and a platform for meaningful engagement with our clients and stakeholders across Kenya,” said Lopokoiyit.

Machakos Golf Club Captain Stephen Musyoka confirmed the course is in excellent shape for the upcoming competition because of the recent improvements.

This year’s ICEA Lion King of the Course Golf Series has introduced a fresh format, with events scheduled to occur on the first weekend of every month.

Departing from the traditional weekly frequency in January, this change promises to be a dynamic and engaging experience for both participants and spectators, according to the organisers.

This prestigious event is expected to attract several pros and juniors, adding a competitive edge to this year’s series.

The golf circuit will progress to Thika Greens Golf Resort on February 2, 2024.

This leg will feature an 18-hole High-Level Executives and CEO’s tournament as a prelude to the Ruiru Sports Club tournament on February 3, 2024, with an anticipated field of over 250 golfers.

The series will continue its journey to Nanyuki Sports Club on March 9, 2024, and subsequently to Nandi Bears on May 25, 2024, culminating in the grand finale at Nyali in October 2024.

In a statement, ICEA Lion said they remain committed to enhancing competitiveness within the sport and fostering greater participation in golf, attracting enthusiasts and novices alike.

The tournaments promise to be a source of excitement, continuous client engagement, and, above all, a celebration of the thriving golfing community across Kenya.
