Spectacular Showdown Anticipated at KCB East Africa Golf Tour in Karen

The grand finale of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour will be played Friday, December 14 at the Par 72 Karen Country Club, marking an end to the eight-month-long amateur series.

On Thursday, KCB said they had partnered with global payments technology company Mastercard to host the final, which has attracted at least 142 golfers from East Africa

Renowned golfers, among them Boaz Sugut, Erick Choge, Josephat Acharo, Edwin Serem, David Sum, John Saina, Eileen Chepchumba and Sosteen Biwot will be battling it up for the title.

Others are Jackson Musomba, Simon Kimatu, Ben Mumo, Francis Mbithi, Joseph Malatu, Francis Musembi, Kyalo Munyao, Engineer Okemwa, and William Kaguta, Edwin Kiptoo, Caroline Nyarandi, and Raajkamal Dhanjal, among others.

They will be battling for the Sh1 million grand prize.

Beulah City, an organization committed to providing investment-grade real estate and urban residential developments to the Kenyan market has sponsored a hole-in-one prize: a fully paid apartment at the prestigious project, Ikhaya Beulah Genesis, located off Naivasha Road.

KCB Group director of marketing and communications, Rosalind Gichuru said most recently they rolled out the World Elite Exclusive Credit Card that offers premium and private banking customers a range of market-exclusive benefits, privileges, and experiences.

“We are excited to join hands once again for the 2023 KCB East Africa Golf Tour grand finale that marks an end to a series that has been a huge success,” she said.

KCB injected a total of Sh60 million into the tournament that traversed Vetlab Sports Club, Eldoret Golf Club, Limuru Golf Club,  Railway Golf Club, Kakamega Golf Club, Nyanza Golf Club, and Thika Sports Club.

Other clubs that hosted the series include Nyeri Golf Club, Nakuru Golf Club, Kericho Golf Club, Great Rift Valley Lodge, Kitale Golf Club, Machakos Golf Club, Sigona Golf Club, Nyali Golf Club, and Nandi Bears Golf Club in the Kenyan edition.

Kenya’s edition saw 15 teams book their slots in the Pro-Am event as the curtains fall on the eight-month-long series that reached 1,500 participants and over 800 juniors and ladies in the clinics that ran concurrently with the series.

Mastercard Country Manager for East Africa, Shehryar Ali noted that KCB’s support for sports in the country is in line with the global payments technology company’s sports strategy to develop golf in the country to an elite level.

Through the golf tour, KCB has planted over 1000 trees in different golf courses the tourney graced in a bid to embed sustainability at the heart of the golfing action to mitigate environmental threats brought about by climate change.
