Sammy Muraya beat over 212 golfers to claim the overall winner title at the 2024 Nation Media Golf Classic held at the Nyali Golf and Country Club on Saturday.
Playing off a handicap of 19, Muraya’s stellar performance earned him an impressive 44 points, securing his place at the top of the leaderboard.
“Today was one of my lucky days. My game wasn’t perfect, but here we are. I’m looking forward to the next one,” said Muraya.
In Division A, Qamber Somji, with a handicap of 10, claimed the winner’s title by scoring 42 points.
Andrew Wahome, playing off a handicap of 2, finished as the runner-up with 41 points.
Wahome also took home the award for Best Gross Scores, impressing with a gross score of 68.
The Division B Winner was Pindolia Dhanji, who secured 40 points with a handicap of 16.
Major Joel Mochanga finished as the runner-up with 38 points (countback).
In Division C, Dr Dinesh Soni, playing off a handicap of 29, scored 42 points to clinch the winner’s title, while Randy Cheruiyot finished as the runner-up with 40 points.
The Junior category saw Aydan Jamal (handicap 16) display poise and determination, securing 37 points.
Tobias Messo triumphed in the Staff Winner category, accumulating 40 points.
Senior golfers also had their moment to shine, with Salim Tweshe achieving 39 points with a handicap of 20 to take the Senior Winner title.
In the Guest category, Samuel Ndunda’s skilful play earned him 36 points with a handicap of 28.
