Royal Nairobi to Host 300 Golfers for NCBA Golf Series

Over 300 golfers will compete in the Royal Nairobi leg of the NCBA Golf Series this Saturday, seeking a spot in the highly anticipated grand finale.

The series, which began in February, is nearing its conclusion with two remaining tournaments: NCBA Nyali Golf and Country Club (October 12) and NCBA Great Rift Valley Lodge (October 26).

The grand finale is set for November 29 at Muthaiga Golf Club.

Launched in February at Royal Nairobi Golf Club, this year’s edition has expanded beyond Kenya, with tournaments held in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Six players from each event—including the top male and female finishers in Divisions One, Two, and Three, as well as the overall junior winner—have earned spots in the final round.

The Royal Nairobi leg offers additional golfers the chance to qualify for the finale.

So far, over 100 players have secured their places, including the latest qualifiers from Rwanda.

The regional event at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas last weekend saw over 180 participants, with Paul Ntaganda, Murekatete Alphonsine, and Bethlehem Umuzabibu advancing to the finale based on their top scores.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed excitement about returning to Royal Nairobi, where the 2024 series first kicked off.

“This series reflects our commitment to the sport and provides a unique platform for golfers to showcase their skills internationally. We are proud to support a sport that fosters community and skill development across the region,” said Gachora.

He also emphasized NCBA’s focus on environmental sustainability, a key aspect of this year’s series.

“As part of our corporate social responsibility, we are committed to planting indigenous trees at every event. At Royal Nairobi, we will plant 100 trees, just as we have done in previous tournaments. This initiative aligns with our broader sustainability goals, contributing to the preservation of our natural and playing environments,” he added.
