The scenic Limuru Country Club ‘Little Augusta’ hosted the 17th leg of the 2024 NCBA Golf Series on Saturday.
Some 228 golfers competed in the 18-hole, par-72 course.
In Division One (handicaps 0-12), Nathan Njuguna, playing of handicap of 11, emerged victorious with an impressive 42 stableford points.
He outplayed James Mbui, who finished as the men’s runner-up with 40 points.
The Ladies’ Division One saw Wambui Gitonga (handicap 11) clinch the title with 28 points.
Division Two (handicaps 13-24) featured a close contest between Waweru Thuku and Edwin Miano, both scoring 41 points.
Thuku (handicap 14) claimed the Men’s Winner title on countback, with Miano (handicap 23) as the runner-up.
Among the ladies, Beth Kariuki (handicap 23) secured the win with 39 points, followed closely by Mumbi Gatu (handicap 20) with 38 points.
In Division Three (handicaps 25 and above), Hope Oduor (handicap 28) triumphed with 40 points, while Maryjane Miako (handicap 25) finished second with 39 points.
The Junior category was dominated by Joseph Kageche, who delivered an outstanding performance with 53 points, securing his spot in the grand finale.
In the Staff category, Erick Nabutola (handicap 31) took the top spot with 37 points, while Fiona Mwende (handicap 33) led the guest category with 42 points.
NCBA Limuru Branch Manager James Maina expressed his satisfaction with the event.
“We’re thrilled to have hosted such a vibrant leg of the NCBA Golf Series at Limuru Country Club. The turnout was exceptional, and the competition was great. At NCBA, we are committed to supporting golf and creating platforms for our customers to network. We look forward to the grand finale later this year,” he said.
Six top golfers from the Limuru event secured their places in the series grand finale, scheduled for November at Muthaiga Golf Club.
These include the top male and female finishers in Divisions One and Two, the overall winner in Division Three, and the Junior winner.
NCBA also demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by donating 100 indigenous trees to Limuru Country Club, part of the bank’s broader environmental stewardship efforts.
Next, the series moves to VetLab Sports Club on August 24th, where golfers will once again compete for top honors and a chance to qualify for the grand finale.
