Mike Kisia from Vet Lab Sports Club Nairobi has emerged winner of the second leg of Safari Tour Season Six that was sponsored by sports betting company, Betika.

The prestigious four-day golf tournament, hosted at the Par 72 Vet Lab Sports Club, brought together 50 top golfers from Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Kenya.

Held from Sunday, December 10, to Wednesday, December 13, the competition witnessed intense battles on the greens.

Kisia, initially trailing behind Daniel Nduva, mounted a remarkable comeback on the final day, sinking five birdies on the seventh, tenth, twelfth, fifth, and sixteenth holes.

Kisia’s journey through the tournament saw him conclude the first round with 3 over par, recover on the second with an impressive 2 under par, only to face a setback on the third day with 3 over par.

Undeterred, he finished the fourth round with a score of 72, totaling an impressive 292 points.

He walked home with a total prize of Sh150,000.

“I am honored to have emerged as the winner of the Betika Safari Tour’s second leg. The competition was fierce, and I appreciate the opportunity to showcase my skills. Thanks to the organizers and fellow players for making this event memorable,” said Kisia.

Daniel Nduva, who was initially leading the pack, slipped to the fourth position behind Kisia, Dismas Indiza of Mumias Golf Club, and Samuel Njoroge from Railway Golf Club, Nairobi.

Nduva’s tournament journey, marked by ups and downs, concluded with a scorecard of 80, 72, 67, and 77, earning him a total of 296 points.

In a neck-and-neck battle, Njoroge and Indiza tied for the second position with 295 total points each, securing Sh90,000 in prize money.

Erick Muiti from Betika expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the growth of golf in the country.

Kenya Golf Union chairman Philip Ochola said the players showcased exceptional performance and sportsmanship throughout the event.

“Your dedication contributes to the success of these events, and I look forward to seeing more remarkable displays in the upcoming tournaments,” said Ochola.

The KGU chairman announced that the top eight players from the Safari Tour series will have the prestigious opportunity to participate in the 2024 Magical Kenya Open.
