Mburu Kariuki Claims Overall Title at Britam Golf Circuit in Nyali

Mburu Kariuki showcased outstanding form to emerge as the overall winner of the Britam Golf Circuit held at Nyali Golf and Country Club on Saturday.

Kariuki, playing off a handicap of 14, posted an impressive 42 Stableford points to claim victory in a field of 210 golfers.

“Any good golfer will tell you, that there is one day, that a golfer is going to have a lucky day. It just happened to also be my lucky day,” said Kariuki during the gala dinner.

The event was the first edition of the 2025 Britam Golf Circuit

In the men’s category, Rohit Devani, playing off handicap 19, secured the win with 41 points, edging out John Orioro, who finished as the runner-up with 39 points.

Jayne Githere emerged as the top lady golfer, carding 38 points to take the title, while Truphena Oyaro finished as the runner-up with 37 points.

In the senior category, John Smith posted 34 points on countback to win, while young talent Aydan Jamal impressed in the junior category with 36 points.

Mohdhar Abubakar produced the best gross score of the tournament, finishing with a remarkable 75 gross.

Meanwhile, Nicholas Amayo clinched the guest winner’s title with 41 points, and Evah Kimani secured victory in the staff category with 37 points.

The tournament also recognized special performances, with Feisal Lasker winning in the invited coastal clubs category with 33 points.

Sanjay Pandya topped the high-handicappers (men, handicap 28+), carding 35 points, while Joan Kimani was the best high-handicap lady (handicap 36+) with 36 points.

In the longest drive contests, Elvis Nduati took the men’s prize, while Gladys Mueni triumphed in the ladies’ category.

Aydan Jamal also showcased precision by winning the nearest-to-the-pin contest with a shot landing just 2.10 feet from the hole.
