The Machakos Golf Club is set to host the 17th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour this Saturday, attracting over 100 golfers for a thrilling competition.
This marks the second consecutive year the prestigious tour is being held at Machakos.
KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosalind Gichuru, emphasized the bank’s commitment to growing the sport by providing golfers with opportunities to play while making the game more accessible.
“We are excited to welcome over 100 top players for what promises to be an incredible event,” she said.
The top two teams from this leg will secure spots in the tour’s grand finale, scheduled for December 6, 2024.
Among the latest qualifiers are Jeff Muthoki, Winston Kirimi, Kevin Kabugi, Ian Kirimi, Gabriel Miungi, captain Anthony Rukwaro, James Warui, and Rama Maulid, following their standout performances at the Nanyuki leg two weeks ago.
Machakos Golf Club Captain, Stephen Musyoka, expressed confidence in the course’s readiness, noting that the wide fairways will allow players to enjoy their rounds.
“We are grateful to KCB for continuously involving us in this series, which reflects their belief in our ability to host a successful tournament. We’re eager for Saturday and look forward to seeing who will emerge victorious,” he said.
Sustainability is a key pillar of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour.
Since last year, tree-planting exercises have taken place at each course visited by the tour, demonstrating KCB’s dedication to addressing climate change.
The club that produces the overall winner in the grand finale will receive a Sh1 million cash prize to support their sustainability initiatives.
Adding extra excitement to the competition, KCB has partnered with Beulah City Ltd, a property firm, to offer an apartment valued at Sh2.1 million as a hole-in-one prize during the 2024 tour.
