Dismas Indiza has clinched the title of the 2023–24 Safari Tour season with an outstanding performance in the final round held at Karen Country and Golf Club.
Indiza secured victory in the Karen leg with an impressive gross total of 18-under par 270, concluding the closing round with a score of 67.
Indiza’s victory at Karen was solidified when the penultimate leader, Ronald Rugumayo of Uganda, faltered in the closing round, posting a disappointing over-par 75 and settling for second position.
This was Indiza’s third victory in the series, which started last November with the Uganda Open where he won with 11 under par 277.
The 55-year-old long-hitter followed the Ugandan victory with a 14-under-par triumph at Limuru Country Club in January, beating Zimbabwe’s Visitor Mapwanya into second place.
During his ascent to the top, the powerful-hitting professional golfer secured an eagle on the par 5, marking his third triumph of the Safari Tour and securing the prestigious Order of Merit.
“It’s such a great feeling to end the season on a high. I go to the Magical Kenya Open with a positive attitude, and I am happy everything went according to plan,” said Indiza.
In the Karen leg, Muthaiga’s Greg Snow secured the third spot with a gross score of 277.
Snow showcased consistent performance throughout the season, winning in Sigona and securing third place in both Karen and Limuru.
Indiza concluded the series with a total of 294.5 points, comfortably ahead of Samuel Njoroge of Kenya Railways Golf Club, who finished with 251.0 points.
Greg Snow claimed the third position with 234.3 points, followed by Daniel Nduva of Nyali Golf in fourth place with 172.0 points.
Organized by Kenya Open Golf Limited (KOGL), the Safari Tour, serves as the ultimate qualifier for the prestigious Magical Kenya Open scheduled from February 22–25 at Muthaiga Golf Club.
The top eight players emerging from the six-leg Safari Tour series have secured their places in the Magical Kenya Open.
