Kenya Railways Golf Club’s John Lejirma clinched his fourth Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series title this year by winning the NCBA Gold Fields Trophy at Kakamega Golf Club on Sunday.

Despite a challenging start on Friday, Lejirma staged a formidable comeback to surpass John Kamaisi of Nakuru Golf Club, who had dominated the leaderboard on the first two days.

Lejirma’s performance on the first day saw him grappling with the course, ending with a score of 75 (+3).

On the second day, he managed to correct his earlier mistakes, recording a more consistent round of 72 (level par).

On Sunday, Lejirma posted an impressive score of 70 (-2), bringing his total to 217 and securing the championship title by four strokes.

“I want to be consistent in my wins. I want to win as many tournaments as possible in a row,” Lejirma told Golf Score Kenya.

This victory adds to Lejirma’s impressive season, which already includes wins at the NCBA Ruiru Open (June 16), the Ronald Marshal and Toby Gibson Cup (May 18) at Njoro Golf Club in Nakuru, and the Trans Nzoia Open (April 24).

Kamaisi started strong with a score of 71 on the first day, followed by a 74 on the second day.

Despite his best efforts, Kamaisi’s final round of 76 couldn’t withstand the pressure exerted by Lejirma’s closing performance, leaving him with a total score of 221 and a second-place finish.

Rwandan Felix Dusabe of Kigali Golf Resort & Villas tied for third place, posting rounds of 77, 73, and 75 for a total score of 225 (+9).

His performance was consistent, with his best round coming on the second day.

Isaac Makokha of Kenya Railway Golf Club also tied for third place with a total score of 225 (+9).

Makokha had an impressive second round, scoring 70, but struggled on the final day with a score of 79.

Ugandan Andrew Ssekibejja of Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa finished in fifth place with a total score of 227 (+11).

Ssekibejja’s rounds were 73, 79, and 75, showing a strong start but encountering challenges on the second day.
