Nyali Golf and Country Club’s Jimmy Kingori on Saturday beat over 80 golfers to emerge Best Individual Player in the inaugural Kilifi-Uganda Open golf tournament played at Vipingo Ridge.
Kingori carded an impressive 41 Stableford points to claim the title.
Following closely behind Kingori was Edwin Kiptoo from Mombasa Golf Club with 40 points, while Hitindera Halal secured third place with 39 points.
Uganda took home the trophy of the Best Team.
Uganda’s Consul General in Mombasa, Ambassador Paul Mukumbya said the tournament was not just about golf; it was also about bringing Kenya and Uganda closer together through tourism.
He expressed excitement about making this tournament an annual event to strengthen ties and promote tourism between the two countries.
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mungaro, who also joined the tournament, emphasized the importance of cross-border tourism for Kilifi County’s growth.
He said they are keen on using sports like golf to boost tourism and create more opportunities for everyone involved.
