Jeff Kubwa, the current Head Resident Professional Golfer at Royal Nairobi Golf Club, hits the gym three times a week to ensure he remains fit for the game.
In an exclusive interview with Golf Score Kenya, Kubwa said he has a strategic work plan that includes routine workouts and regular practice at the range and the golf course.
Kubwa, a gold medalist in Berlin Special Olympics in 2023, said he always sticks to his game plan.
“I have come up with strategic plans to ensure my game stays in shape through regular workouts and practice. I hit the gym three times a week,” he said.
He added, “Golf, just like any other sport, requires good work ethic and discipline.”
Kubwa, who became a professional golfer in April 2017, said he started playing golf at an early age of only 11 years at Eldoret Golf Club.
His father was an employee at the Golf Club.
“I was born and raised in a golfing environment (Eldoret Golf Club), and this gave me access to golf at a very early age. I was very good as a junior golfer and won a couple of champions,’ he said.
Around 2013, Kubwa joined Muthaiga Golf Club after the club’s leadership noticed his potential.
He trained for about one year at Muthaiga before joining Kenya’s golf national team.
Four years later, in 2017, he decided to turn professional golfer.
In March this year, after a 10-year-stint at Muthaiga Golf, Kubwa joined Royal Nairobi, which is Kenya’s oldest golf club established in 1906.
“As the head Pro at Royal Nairobi, my main responsibility is to develop golf through coaching juniors, amateurs and professionals. I’m also in charge of the golf administration and any other golf related activities at the club,” he said.
At Royal Nairobi Golf Club, Kubwa said he also is working to ensure the junior golfers improve.
“I have come up with coaching programs to ensure our juniors improve in their game and compete internationally,” he said.
