On November 1, Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi became the venue for a noble cause, as corporate organizations rallied together to support life-saving care for children battling cancer.

The event was the 32nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament organized by Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, aimed at raising awareness and funds for the early diagnosis and treatment of childhood cancer.

In Kenya, where childhood cancer affects countless young lives each year, various corporate entities continue to play a pivotal role in advancing early diagnosis and treatment.

Their contributions make critical interventions possible, offering hope and better outcomes for affected children.

The tournament brought together health advocates, professionals, and golf enthusiasts with a shared purpose: to make a tangible difference in the fight against childhood cancer.

This year’s tournament successfully raised over Sh7 million, with contributions pouring in from generous sponsors, including First Assurance, NCBA, Absa, KCB, Sankara, and many others.

Dr Johannes Kitaka, First Assurance Chief Operations Officer, expressed pride in standing alongside Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital and other partners committed to this vital cause.

“This initiative is a powerful reminder that together, organizations can work towards a world where every child has access to the care and treatment they truly deserve,” said Kitaka.

He emphasized that for First Assurance, golf has always held a special place, and there’s no better way to enjoy the game than by uniting with fellow enthusiasts to support a meaningful cause.

Their involvement not only underscored their corporate values but also demonstrated how companies can drive positive health outcomes through targeted support.

Gertrude’s Hospital Managing Director, Robert Nyarango, extended his gratitude, stating, “We would like to thank First Assurance and other partners for their generous contribution and unwavering support. This initiative truly aims to make a difference in a child’s life.”

The success of this charity event serves as a testament to the impact of collective action.

With the support of committed partners, Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital continues to lead the charge in providing life-saving care for young cancer patients across the country.
