George Githinji Shines at Nyali Golf and Country Club’s 2024 Captain’s Prize

The 2024 Nyali Golf and Country Club Captain’s Prize wrapped up in style on Sunday, marking a grand celebration of outgoing Captain Dinesh Sasan’s exceptional two-year leadership.

The two-day tournament drew an impressive 215 players, competing across various categories.

George Githinji stole the show as the Overall Winner, amassing 40 points in Round One and a stunning 64 Nett in Round Two, finishing with a remarkable 24-point differential to claim the event’s most prestigious title.

Hashiguchi Tetsuo secured the Runner-Up spot with 39 points in Round One and a 70 Nett in Round Two, tallying a 31-point differential. Jon Stokes finished third, with 36 points on the first day and a 69 Nett in the final round, edging competitors on countback with a 33-point differential.

On Saturday, Sam Muraya delivered a stellar performance to claim the day’s top honour with 44 points.

Mary Naneu receives the award of Winner in ladies’ category.

The Ladies’ competition, contested on Saturday, saw Mary Naneu triumph as the Winner with an impressive 41 points, narrowly edging out Lydia Kamau, who posted 40 points.

The tournament’s Sunday Best Gross Winner was Henry Kamau of Mombasa Golf Club, delivering an exceptional 75 Gross. Meanwhile, Tom Soigwa claimed the Sunday Nett Winner title with an outstanding 66 Nett.

In the junior category, Kunaal Khagram excelled, earning the Best Junior title with 38 points and a 72 Nett.

Murtaza Saeed, proving that age is no barrier, won the Best Senior award with 36 points on Day One and a 76 Nett on Day Two.

The event also highlighted the contributions of past and current Coast golf leaders. Dominic Makau earned the Best Past Captain honor with 38 points and a 77 Nett, totaling a 39-point differential. Matching his performance was Francis Muthamia of Mombasa Golf Club, who was named Best Coast Captain.

Among high-handicap golfers, Engineer Willis Ingari stood out in the Men’s category with 36 points and a 71 Nett, while Joan Kimani impressed in the Ladies’ division with 35 points.

The Guest Winner title went to David Warui, who shone with 41 points and a 77 Nett.
