Chauhan Family Dominates Inaugural KAM Coast Region Golf Tournament

Kailesh Chauhan emerged victorious at the inaugural Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Coast Region Corporate Golf Tournament held on Saturday.

The event, which drew 169 participants, took place at the prestigious Nyali Golf and Country Club.

Chauhan, playing off a handicap of 24, secured the Overall Winner title with an impressive score of 40 points.

Despite the challenging conditions brought on by the rains and strong winds, Chauhan managed to conquer the course.

“The course was tough and challenging because of the bad weather; the rains and the wind. However, I managed to beat the course,” said Chauhan.

The event turned into a family affair when Chauhan’s 12-year-old son, Shay Chauhan, claimed the Junior title with 38 points on countback.

“He plays really good golf,” the proud father said, highlighting the young golfer’s promising future.

Omar Lewa, playing off a handicap of 7, delivered an outstanding performance, winning the Best Gross Score with a total of 78 Gross.

The Men’s category saw a tight race, with Swaleh Omar emerging victorious after a countback, scoring 39 points off a handicap of 25.

Rimal Shah, also with 39 points, finished as Runner-Up, while Michael Sangoro claimed third place with 38 points, also decided on countback.

In the Ladies’ category, Teresia Odoo, the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) Coast Representative, displayed her golfing prowess by winning with 39 points off a handicap of 15.

Hellen Wanjiru followed closely, securing the Runner-Up position with 37 points.

Other notable winners included Aaron Kikuvi, who took the Best Senior title with 36 points off a handicap of 22.

Raju Patel impressed in the Best KAM Member category with 37 points off a handicap of 25, while Lawrence Njenga, playing with a handicap of 37, emerged as the Best KAM Staff with 35 points.

Raajveer Dhanjal, playing off a handicap of 13, demonstrated his commitment to the sport by scoring 38 points, winning the Best Sponsor category.

The tournament also recognized exceptional performances in the individual nine-hole contests.

Tony Mintos clinched the Best 1st Nine title with 22 points on countback, while Salim Taib took the Best 2nd Nine with 23 points.
