In a thrilling display of skill and teamwork, the quartet of Boaz Sugut, Erick Choge, Josephat Acharo, and Edwin Serem triumphed as the overall team winner at the penultimate leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour in Nandi County.
Their combined score of 117 points showcased their prowess at the picturesque Nandi Bears Golf Club Course on Saturday.
“I thank my four-ball for an amazing outing here at Nandi. The course is in good condition, and our teamwork granted us the victory here today,” said Sugut.
The runner-up team, consisting of David Sum, John Saina, Eileen Chepchumba, and Sosteen Biwot, delivered a commendable performance, securing the second spot with a combined score of 107 points.
These two outstanding teams now join 14 others in securing their places for the Pro-Am grand finale event scheduled for December 15 at the lush-green Karen Country Club in Nairobi.
“We are embarking on rigorous training for the grand finale to compete with the top guns on December 15,” said Sugut during the award ceremony in Nandi.
Choge, a seasoned handicap 20 golfer, emerged as the individual star of the day, carding an outstanding score of 42 Stableford points.
This remarkable feat earned him the coveted overall winner award, surpassing a field of over 100 golfers who participated in the tournament.
Serem, playing off a handicap of 24, showcased his skills with a score of 42 Stableford points, narrowly losing to Choge on countback, but securing the men’s winner award.
Gorrety Mutai, with a handicap of 22, claimed the title of lady winner with an impressive score of 36 points.
Kimeli Mutai and Faith Chemutai secured the longest drive awards in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, while David Sum bagged the nearest to the pin award.
H. Khokoro, an 18-handicap golfer from the Kakamega Golf Course, was named the guest winner after carding 35 Stableford points.
The staff winner award went to Aggrey Mulumbi, surpassing his closest competitor Timothy Kuria, in a competition graced by KCB Group CEO Paul Russo.
