Home players Aisha Duba and Joseph Gathumbi emerged as overall gross winners in the fifth qualifying leg of the 2025 NCBA Golf Series at Kenya Railway Golf Club.

Duba, playing off handicap 6, secured the overall ladies’ gross title with a score of 79, while Gathumbi (handicap 2) posted an impressive 73 gross to claim the overall men’s gross title.

In the men’s categories, John Kamenyi (handicap 8) topped Division One with 36 Stableford points, while Erick Genga (handicap 13) won Division Two with 35 points.

Doris Night with a handicap of 21 claimed the Division Two ladies’ title with 37 points, and Mary Miingi (handicap 25) secured the overall Division Three win with 35 points.

In the junior category, Semenye Jimmy (handicap 16) emerged victorious with 34 points, while Joseph Kamiri (handicap 17) took the guest winner title with an impressive 44 points.

NCBA Corporate Banking Director Charles Omondi, playing off handicap 21, was the staff winner with 34 points.

James Mathenge and Diana Mbuba won the longest drive contests, while J.K. Kamiri and Jane Ndirangu claimed the nearest-to-the-pin awards in the men’s and ladies’ categories, respectively.

Speaking after the event, Omondi commended the course marshals for ensuring smooth play and emphasized the series’ significance to NCBA.

“The course was good, apart from minor hold-ups on a few holes, but the marshals helped us move quickly. This series allows us to engage with golfers, understand their challenges, and explore solutions that enhance our partnership,” Omondi said.

Winners in Men’s and Ladies’ Division One and Two, the overall Division Three winner, and the junior category champion earned spots in the series’ grand finale later this year.

For the first time, the series has introduced a hole-in-one prize at select venues, thanks to a partnership between NCBA and JCB Ganatra Plant and Equipment Ltd.

A brand-new JCB Backhoe Loader, Model 3DX, will be awarded to any golfer achieving this feat on designated holes.

The 2025 series teed off in January at VetLab Sports Club, with subsequent stops at Nandi Bears Club, Malindi Golf Club, and Kiambu Golf Club.

The next qualifying event will be held at Nakuru Golf Club on April 12, 2025.
