Kenya’s golf tourism received a significant boost with the arrival of 16 Italian golfers from the Diplomatic and International Golf Association (DIGA).
The group landed in Kenya on Saturday, March 8, for a week-long golfing adventure, exploring some of the country’s finest coastal courses, including Nyali Golf and Country Club, Diamond Leisure Beach and Golf Resort, and the PGA-rated Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge.
Their visit blended world-class golfing with Kenya’s breathtaking wildlife, creating an unforgettable experience.
At Vipingo Ridge, they had the rare thrill of playing alongside zebras and elands, adding a magical safari element to their game.
DIGA President Antonio Stocchi expressed his admiration for Kenya’s beauty, hospitality, and top-tier courses.
“At Vipingo, we played with zebras, giraffes, and oryx. It was the first time, and we had to wait for zebras to clear the green before putting the ball,” he said.
He added, “It was a fantastic experience, and we are already looking forward to coming back.”

Beyond golf, the group immersed themselves in Kenya’s coastal lifestyle and culture.
“The team was excited about this trip. Many had never been to Africa, let alone Kenya. They got to experience not just the tourist attractions but also the daily life of Kenyans,” Stocchi said.
Encouraged by their experience, DIGA plans to bring more groups for golf safaris and may explore both coastal and Nairobi’s courses on their next visit.
This remarkable tour was facilitated by the Kenya Tourism Board and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with support from Kenya’s ambassador in Rome.
During a friendly round at Vipingo Ridge, Roberto Santirocco emerged as the overall men’s winner with a score of 73 gross, while Paola Ginevri La Torre claimed the overall ladies’ title with a score of 79 gross.
