More than 116 junior golfers from Kenya and around the world will tee off today at the 2025 NCBA Kenya Invitational Junior Golf Tournament.

The event runs from Saturday, January 4, to Monday, January 6, at the prestigious Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club.

The young participants represent 10 nations: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, DR Congo, Germany, India, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, and China.

The tournament is organized by the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) Kenya in partnership with U.S. Kids Golf and sponsored by NCBA.

The competition is structured into age groups ranging from 5 to 18 years, with each category playing from age-specific yardages.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, JGF Kenya President Regina Gachora hailed the event as a milestone for junior golf in the country.

“It’s amazing to see so many young players, both from Kenya and internationally, come together to compete and learn from one another. This is more than just a tournament—it’s an opportunity for these juniors to build confidence, grow their skills, and form lasting friendships in the sport,” said Gachora.

This tournament marks the grand finale of the 2024 Junior Series calendar and has drawn a highly competitive field.

It also counts toward the Junior Golf Foundation’s Order of Merit points for both handicapped and non-handicapped boys and girls aged 15–18.

For players in the 15 -18 age group, the event offers the chance to earn World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points, further enhancing their competitive profiles.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to secure U.S. Kids Golf Priority Status, which opens doors to prestigious Major Championships, Regional and International tournaments, and the renowned World Teen Championships.

NCBA has sponsored 10 junior golfers from across Kenya to participate in this International Invitational.

This is in line with its commitment to fostering inclusive communities through regional sports development under its Change the Story sustainability agenda.

In 2024, NCBA sponsored over 42 junior tournaments across East Africa, ensuring that every region in Kenya hosted at least one event.

A key highlight was the WAGR-sanctioned tournament held at Kisii Sports Club late last year.

NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora expressed pride in supporting young golfers.

“Golf teaches essential values like hard work, patience, and integrity. By supporting these tournaments, we are giving young players a platform to showcase their talents and take significant steps in their golfing journeys,” he said.

He added, “Supporting juniors in golf not only empowers them but also contributes to economic development and positions Kenya and the region on the global golf map.”
