Kenya Railway Golf Club Hosts Invitational Golf Tournament

The Railways Invitational Golf Tournament teed off today morning at the Kenya Railway Golf Club.

The three-day 54-hole stroke play championship, which is sponsored by NCBA Bank, has drawn 79 amateurs from across the country.

They will all play in the first two rounds after which the top 33 and ties will make the cut to the final round on the final day on Sunday.

The prize money for the event is set at Sh500,000 and the winner will walk away with Sh115,000.

Among the notable participants are some of the country’s finest golfers, including John Lejirma, who is representing Kenya Railway Golf Club.

Known for his precision and strategic play, Lejirma will have the home advantage, but he faces tough competition from other leading players like Michael Karanga, who currently ranks number one in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series.

Kenya Golf Union (KGU) Tournament Director Chris Kinuthia said the appreciate NCBA Bank for continued involvement and its commitment to developing golf talent in Kenya

“NCBA Bank’s support extends beyond just sponsorship; it is a partnership aimed at promoting the sport across all levels, encouraging more young people to take up the game, and providing a platform for the best talents to shine,” he said.

The Railways Invitational is one of the ongoing 28 events in the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) 2024 Calendar organized by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU).

It counts Golfer of the Year and also earns points to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
