Felix Dusabe of Kigali Golf Resort and Villas in Rwanda emerged as the champion of the NCBA Mt. Kenya Championship, held at Nyeri Golf Club over the weekend.
Dusabe showcased exceptional consistency throughout the event, finishing with a total score of 221 across three rounds.
His scores of 74, 71, and 76 respectively, put him five strokes over par, securing the top spot in the competition.
This victory marks Dusabe’s first win in the 2024 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series, following his participation in 13 tournaments.
Currently ranked fifth in the KAGC series with 183.8 points, Dusabe’s achievement adds significant momentum to his season.
The race for second place at the Mt Kenya Championship was fiercely contested among three Kenyan golfers.
Sammy Mulama from Golf Park Golf Club, Elvis Muigua from Kiambu Golf Club, and John Lejirma from Kenya Railway Golf Club each finished with a total score of 225, nine strokes over par.
Mulama, after a challenging opening round with an 83, made a notable comeback with rounds of 70 and 72.
Muigua demonstrated steady performance with scores of 79, 75, and 71, while Lejirma’s promising start with a 72 faltered as he recorded scores of 75 and 78 in the following rounds.
The NCBA Mt. Kenya Championship, a prestigious event since its inception in 1957, was held over three days from Friday to Sunday.
The tournament is part of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) 2024 calendar organized by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU).
It contributes points towards the Golfer of the Year title and the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
