Elvis Muigua of Kiambu Golf Club emerged victorious at the 2024 NCBA Faldo Series Kenya Championship on Wednesday at Karen Country Club.

Muigua secured his win by defeating Shashwat Harish by two strokes, capping off an intense final round.

Despite challenging conditions on the course, Muigwa delivered an impressive performance, shooting three over par 72 on the last day, bringing his total to four over par 218.

Harish followed closely, finishing with a score of six over par 220.

Muigua’s journey to the top was marked by consistent play. After starting in third place following round one, he ascended to the lead in round two and maintained his position through the final round to claim the championship.

“I knew I had the potential to win. Playing in more competitive events has boosted my confidence significantly. Coming into the final day, I had one mission—to dominate and play my best to take the title,” said Muigwa.

Reflecting on his motivation, he added, “Last year’s loss in the play-off at the Faldo tournament pushed me to give it my all this year. With Coach John’s guidance, I’ve corrected my mistakes, sharpened my swing, and I’m ready to deliver great scores in the upcoming tournaments.”

Among the girls, Bianca Ngecu stood out as the top performer, finishing with a score of 230, and securing ninth place overall.

Although she was in the top three during the first two rounds, the pressure of competing alongside Muigwa and Harish proved challenging.

“They’re obviously very skilled golfers, and the pressure was immense as they were sinking birdies while I was fighting to make pars. But I gave it my best,” Bianca commented.

Bianca, who won the girls 16 and under category, is one of four junior golfers heading to the Grand Final at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club in the UAE.

Joining her is Antonia Mbuthia, who won the girls 21 and under category with a score of 253, and Harish, who also won the boys 16 and under category winner.
