Akinyi Gitonga emerged as the star of the Karen Country Club’s ninth Ladies Medal tournament held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
Gitonga delivered an outstanding performance, carding a 68 nett to claim the top spot in Division A.
The event was sponsored by IMG Kenya Limited, an integrated marketing communications and events agency.
Close on Gitonga’s heels were her clubmates Koki Muia and Kellie Gachaga, who finished second and third with scores of 73 nett and 75 nett, respectively.
In Division B, Nkini Pasha dominated with an impressive 65 nett, followed by Jennifer Cege with 67 nett, and Nellie Njaga in third place with 70 nett.
Amara Kimari, a junior golfer, stole the spotlight in Division C with a score of 40 Stableford points.
Meanwhile, Kellie Gachaga claimed the gross category with a score of 80 gross.
Additional highlights included Njeri Onyango and Milcah Kamere winning the Nines challenge, each scoring 35 nett on the first and second nine holes, respectively.
Jennifer Cege excelled in the Putting Challenge with a remarkable 25 putts, while junior golfer Muthoni Kioi secured the Junior category win with a score of 74 nett.
Richard Bailey, IMG Kenya Ltd’s Strategy Director, said the level of talent showcased at Karen was truly inspiring.
