David Ndungu was on Friday elected the chairman of the Kenya Golf Union (KGU).

The elections were at Muthaiga Golf Club during the KGU annual general meeting.

Ndung’u, who is a member of Limuru Golf Club, takes over from Philip Ochola, who served his one-year term in office.

Ochola’s predecessor was Vet Lab’s Njani Ndiritu.

Ndungu, the newly elected KGU chairman, committed to ensure that the union continues to play its role in making one-golf a reality.

“We aim to build on proper and solid foundations that will serve the sport for years to come. We are all on the same side, and we all want the same outcome,” he said.

He added, “Having different approaches to how that outcome is achieved doesn’t make us adversaries; it makes us teammates and it just means we are human.”

Chris Kinuthia, who was previously serving as KGU secretary, was elected the vice chairman to Ndungu.

Karugu Macharia was elected KGU’s Treasurer, and Brian Akun will take over from Ndungu as the Union’s Secretary.

The other officials elected as KGU executives include; James Gitonga (Mombasa Golf Club), Peter Mwaura (Ruiru Sports Club), Jonathan Marucha (Kenya Railways), Robert Ngugi (Muthaiga Golf Club), Weldon Mutai (Sigona Golf Club), and Liban Roba (Karen Golf Club)

KGU, which is 96 years old, is Kenya’s oldest sports federation.
