Some 36 elite amateur golfers will compete for the top honours during the NCBA Ronald Marshall & Toby Gibson Golf Tournament at Njoro Country Club, Nakuru.
The event is set to take place from May 17 to 19, 2024.
The participants will compete for a total prize pool of Sh200,000, with the top eight performers earning a share of this coveted reward.
The showdown is expected between last year’s champion John Lejirma and Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) 2024 Series leader Elvis Muigua.
In the previous edition of the tournament, Lejirma demonstrated his prowess by decisively defeating 20-year-old Muigua of Kiambu Golf Club with a score of 8 up with 6 holes to play.
Lejirma will be aiming for his second title in the 2024 KAGC series, having won the Trans Nzoia Open Golf Championship at Kitale Golf Club last month.
Meanwhile, Muigua seeks his fifth title this year, having already secured victories at the Sigona Bowl, the Great Rift Valley Championship, the Windsor Classic, and the Winston Churchill Tournament at Thika Golf Club.
Other notable players expected to participate include Kenya’s elite lady golfer, Mercy Nyanchama, as well as Rwandan golfers Felix Dusabe and Didas Ndindabahizi.
The NCBA Ronald Marshall & Toby Gibson Trophy will feature a captivating format, beginning with an 18-hole stroke play qualifier to determine seeding for the subsequent match play knockout rounds. This format promises thrilling competition and strategic gameplay among the participants.
Importantly, the event carries significant weight in the golfing world, qualifying for both the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) ranking and the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), underscoring its importance on the international golfing calendar.
The next KAGC series event will be the Coronation & Blender Trophy, scheduled to be played at the Nakuru Golf Club from May 31 to June 2.
