Michael Karanga of Kiambu Golf Club began his 2025 golf season on a high note by claiming victory at the 66th NCBA Sigona Bowl held at Sigona Golf Club.
Karanga emerged as the tournament champion with an impressive total score of 212, finishing 4-under-par across three rounds.
The tournament saw Karanga deliver a consistent performance, opening with a 74 in the first round before an outstanding 68 in the second round gave him the edge over his competitors.
A composed final round of 72 was enough to seal his win, earning him a prize of KSh104,000 and reinforcing his position as one of Kenya’s leading amateur golfers.
Adel Balala of Nyali Golf and Country Club secured second place with a total score of 217 (+1), five strokes behind Karanga.
Balala demonstrated remarkable resilience, starting with a 74, improving to 72 in the second round, and concluding with a steady 71 on the final day.
Kenya Railway Golf Club’s John Lejirma claimed third place, finishing with a total score of 220 (+4).
Lejirma faced a tough start with a 77 in the opening round but fought back with solid rounds of 75 and a brilliant 68 to finish strong.
Kellie Gachaga of Karen Country Club, who had taken the early lead with a solid 70 in the opening round, faced challenges in maintaining her momentum.
She posted scores of 80 and 72 in the subsequent rounds, ultimately finishing fourth with a total score of 222 (+6).
